Greek Sunday Brunch for Mom: A 5-Dish Mezze Spread That Brings Everyone to the Table
The Greek approach to brunch is not a single dish. It is a table — several small things, each simple, each excellent, arranged so that everyone can reach everything and the meal lasts as long as the conversation.
This Mother's Day, build that table. Five dishes, all ready in under 30 minutes, all built around the ingredients that define the Greek pantry.
The 5-Dish Greek Brunch Mezze
1. Baked Feta with Raw Honey and Walnuts
Place a generous slab of PDO barrel-aged feta in a small baking dish. Drizzle with Sparta Gourmet EVOO, scatter a few walnuts, and bake at 200°C for 12–15 minutes until golden at the edges. Remove from the oven and immediately pour over a generous spoonful of raw Greek mountain honey. Serve straight from the dish with crusty bread. This is the dish that disappears first.
2. Mini Dakos
Use small barley rusks, briefly moistened, topped with grated ripe tomato, crumbled feta, a drizzle of EVOO, and dried oregano. Two bites each. Make more than you think you need. (Full recipe: Cretan Dakos Recipe.)
3. Whipped Feta Dip (Htipiti)
Blend 200g barrel-aged feta with 3 tbsp Greek yogurt, 1 roasted red pepper, and a squeeze of lemon until completely smooth. Transfer to a bowl, make a well in the center, and fill with Ariston Lemon-Infused EVOO. Serve with warm pita or crudités. Bright, creamy, and impossible to stop eating.
4. Greek Yogurt with Honey and Pistachios
Spoon thick Greek strained yogurt into a wide bowl. Drizzle generously with raw mountain honey. Scatter crushed pistachios and a pinch of cinnamon. This is breakfast and dessert in one bowl — the dish that anchors every Greek morning table.
5. Kalamata Olives in EVOO
Pour Kalamata olives in EVOO into a small bowl. Add a strip of lemon zest and a sprig of fresh thyme. That is all. The olives are already complete — they just need a bowl and a place at the table.
How to Build the Table
Arrange everything on a large wooden board or a linen-covered table. Put the baked feta in the center while it's still hot. Surround it with the dakos, the whipped feta, the yogurt bowl, and the olives. Add warm bread, a carafe of water, and whatever you're drinking. Then sit down, slow down, and let the meal take as long as it wants to.
That is the Greek Sunday brunch. That is the gift.
Happy Mother's Day. Χρόνια πολλά.
